Software companies around the world, specially software companies, are overwhelmed with documentation and inertia of developers towards process documents. If your documentation becomes a hurdle to production effectiveness and developers do not like producing documents, you should think of trying the agile way. Developers like coding not documenting.
A bit of Scrum in 100 words:
We can fit Scrum to manage your projects in an agile way at almost any point of your project lifecycle. Using Scrum your projects will reach a level that fits your needs in a way not achievable with pure waterfall, spiral, evolutionary models as for the methodology customer collaboration and team commitment are key to the success of any project using Scrum as project management methodology.
The picture below shows the core of the Scrum process (image available at www.mountaingoatsoftware.com/scrum).

Scrum projects make progress in a series of “sprints”, a timeboxed iteration, analogous to the Extreme Programming iterations. The typical duration of this iteration is 2–4 weeks or a calendar month at most. During the sprint, the product is designed, coded, and tested. At the end of each sprint, a series of review and planning meeting take place and after that the team is ready to start over again.
