We need to value process as XP contains a process (TDD, for example, is a process as well as a technique), Scrum contains a process (the monthly backlog prioritization, daily standup, etc.), FDD contains a process, DSDM contains a process and those are valuable. We also value tools like configuration management tools, Scrum tools, collaboration tools as SVN and these are good tools since we need them. However, even more powerful than processes and tools are the individuals of a team collaborating actively and effectively to achieve Sprint goals, meeting in daily scrums, developing fully committed to the work.

Similarly, contracts have value, whether it is for fixed-price or any other type. However, even more powerful than a contract is when the customer moves across the table and joins the development team in a collaborative effort.

The agile manifesto suggests to focus on the items on the left, and keep eyes alert to the items on the right.
